Juan Jimenez originally from Cuba, Juan began his artistic training at the Camagüey Academy of Art and Dance at the age of ten. His exceptional talent was quickly recognized—he received both a gold and a silver medal and earned the praise of a distinguished jury of Cuban dance masters.
A graduate of La Escuela Profesional de Arte with the highest honors, Juan received comprehensive training that combined classical technique with in-depth studies in dance methodology and pedagogy.
At just 17, he was selected by the artistic director of the Cuban National Ballet School to join the Teatro Nuovo di Torino in Italy as a soloist. There, he collaborated with numerous renowned artists and worked under the direction of acclaimed choreographers such as Robert North and Luciana Savignano.
In 1992, Juan returned to Cuba to join the Ballet de Camagüey as a soloist, under the legendary direction of Fernando and Alicia Alonso. Four years later, he joined the Victor Ullate Ballet in Madrid, where he was noticed by choreographer Gillian Lynne and invited to perform the role of Mr. Mistoffelees in the musical Cats.
In 2005, Juan became a member of Béjart Ballet Lausanne, performing on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and Teatro alla Scala in Milan. After the passing of Maurice Béjart in 2007, Juan was invited to rejoin the company and contribute to preserving the master’s legacy.
Today, following a distinguished international career, Juan is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of dancers. Since 2017, he has been teaching at Dance Area in Geneva.
He is currently a teacher at the Igokat Dance Academy
