Igor Piovano was born in Italy.
He danced as a principal dancer in the following companies: Teatro Nuovo Torino in 1990, Compagnia Italiana di Balletto Carla Fracci (as Carla Fracci’s partner ) in 1991, the Arena di Verona (winning a gold medal at the Concours de Chiavari), Perti Virtaneen Dancers, Compagnia Veneta di Balletto, and was engaged in 1994 for 12 years in the Béjart Ballet Lausanne where he performed principal roles.

He has invited to teach for the Béjart Ballet Lausanne company and school, Terna Dance School (Italy), Dover Dance Academy (USA), Catskill Ballet Theatre (USA), Académie de Danse in Florence (Italy), Balletto di Parma (Italy), Ballet du Rhin (France), Arena 225 in Zurich, Vevey Youth Ballet, for the AFJD, and for the Prix de Lausanne(Switzerland).

In 2001, he danced and acted in the film «One Last Dance» with Patrick Swayze and in 2003 he collaborated with the Paris Opera for the ballet «Le Mandarin Merveilleux». From 2001 to 2005, he was ballet master, teacher and principal dancer for Béjart Ballet Lausanne.

In 2004,
he choreographed the performance for the overture of the International Harp Symposium.
In 2005, the Musical Soirée, and in 2006 Carte Blanche, the Misfortunes of Sophie and Soirée Investec.

Since January 2006, he was appointed as a principal video filmmaker for the Prix de Lausanne for his artistic vision of dance.

In 2007, he choreographed and danced, as a principal dancer, for the GRAAP evening event «Bal de l’Entraide». He choreographed the Swiss Romande Lottery’s 70th anniversary anniversary as well as the opening of the ‘Portail Peint’ at the Lausanne Cathedral.

In 2008, he choreographed and was a principal dancer in the Diams gala for the Panda Ball, Le Fantôme du Château and Dentro and the Belle Hélène in collaboration with Kathryn Bradney for the Opera of Lausanne. He also choreographed for the European Gymnastic Championships.

He was invited to teach in 2009 at the Tanz Akademie Zürich.

In May 2009, he choreographed and danced as principal dancer in «Le 6ème Élément» at the Métropole Theatre in Lausanne, choreographed and directed a scene for the Saint-Prex Festival (Romeo and Juliet) as well as choreographed and danced as a principal dancer for the Gala «Grands Brûlés» at the Beaulieu Thetare.

In November 2009, he danced with the Company Igokat at the Teatro Nuovo of Turin for the second anniversary of the passing of Maurice Béjart, and was guest of honor at the 150th anniversary of the Province of Cuneo in Italy.

From 2006 to 2022, every year he has been a jury member of the pre-selections for the Prix de Lausanne.

He is a member of Danse Suisse and is registered as a professional dance teacher in Switzerland.

In March 2010, danced at the opening gala of the Lugano Festival.

In June 2010 and May 2011, he choreographed the ballet Sheherazade for the Igokat Dance Academy.

In
2010, he choreographed and danced as a principal in «Tais-toi et Danse» at the Métropole Theatre in Lausanne, as well as being invited to dance as a principal for the Cinevox Junior Company gala.

In May 2011, he choreographed and danced as a principal dancer in «BD – Ballet Dessiné» at the Octogone Theatre in Pully.

In October 2011
, he was invited to dance as a principal dancer for the gala «30 ans de la Terna» in Italy.

In November and December 201
1, he choreographed and danced as a principal in «BD – Ballet Dessiné» at the Vevey Theatre and the Octogone Theatre in Pully.

In March 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 he is a jury member for the ‘Sport-études’ audition in Délémont.

He was committee member and is registered as a professional dance teacher in the Swiss Federation of Dance Schools (FSED).

In July 2012, he danced as a principal for the Company Igokat in the Gala opening of the festival ‘Vignale Danza’ in Italy.

In November and December 2012,
he choreographed and danced as a principal with the Igokat Company in «Une Chance, un Sourire» at l’Espace Culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne and at the Marens Theatre in Nyon.

In October 2013, he choreographed and danced as a principal with the Igokat Company in «Give & Take» at l’Espace Culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne.

In De
cembre 2013, he choreographed and danced as a principal with the Company Igokat in excerpts of «Give & Take» for the re-opening of the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

He is an expert for the CFC in contemporary dance in Geneva.

In June 2014 and June 2015, he choreographed the ballet “Alice in Wonderland in 2014 and 2015” for the Igokat Academy of Dance.

In November 2014,
he choreographed and danced as a principal dancer with the Igokat Company in «Vouloir c’est Pouvoir» at l’Espace Culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne.

In October and Novembre 2015, he choreographed and was a principal dancer with the Igokat Company in «Dansebook» at the Espace Culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne.

In January 2016,
he was a principal dancer with the Igokat Company in «Dansebook» at the Théâtre de Colombier in Neuchâtel.

In December 2015, was engaged as the choreographer of “My Fair Lady” for the Lausanne Opera.

In June 2016 and June 2017, he choreographed «Cinderella au Grand Bal d’Igokat» for the Igokat Academy of Dance.

In November 2016, he choreographed «Roméo cherche Juliette» for the Igokat Company presented at the Espace Culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne.

In September 2017, along with his wife Kathryn Bradney, he received the “Awakening Prize” from the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.

In November 2017, he choreographed for the Igokat Company “Petrouchka le Clown” presented at the Espace Culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne.

In June 2018 and June 2019, he choreographed “The Carnival of the Animals” for the Igokat Dance Academy.

In November and December 2018, he choreographed “Il Maestro Vivaldi” for the Igokat Company presented at the Espace Culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne.

In March 2020, he choreographed “The Wall” for the Igokat Company presented at the Center Culturel des Terreaux in Lausanne.

In June 2021, he choreographed the ballet “The Nutcracker” for the Igokat Dance Academy.

He is currently director of the Igokat Center, vice-president of the ASCI, production manager for the international dance competition the ‘Prix de Lausanne’ as well as a free-lance teacher, dancer and choreographer.
